In the Waiting

A friend recently described hearing God in drops. Little drips and drops that, over time, add up and cannot be ignored.

I wanted a huge sign. I wanted a burning bush. But, we’ve been getting little drips and drops. And now I can see that they’ve grown into a small puddle around our feet.

A few months ago, we realized we couldn’t ignore the drops and the puddle, so we prepared to step forward without having a clear picture of what was ahead.

And we did it. Our house is empty and it is on the market for sale. We have reduced our possessions to 6 suitcases and 8 boxes worth, and we are staying with family in Oregon.

It was a huge two months of stepping bravely forward. And now we are suddenly waiting.

Waiting is weird.

It’s that in-between place where your adrenaline fades, your head keeps spinning, and you wonder what in the heck you’ve done!

We see a growing vision ahead. We have some pieces in place. We are navigating the variables that still need to be worked out. We have met with a migration attorney to determine our path forward.

And now we simply have to wait.

It is strange. It is exciting. It is sad. It is wonderful. All at the same time.

This month, as we wait, we are working on three things:

— Application process with Foursquare Missions International

— Starting to create our deployment prayer & support community

— Leaning on Jesus as we celebrate, grieve, say unending goodbyes, and continue to wait.

Pray for us:

— Divine timing for all the variables and things that need to “fall into place”

— A wonderful buyer for our home

— Favor and success as we work through the complex visa and migration processes (Due to this complex process, we need to keep things private and off social media. Pray for nothing to jeopardize our application!)

With love,
J&J
