Being Sent

“Missionary”

— From Latin missionem, missio

— "a sending abroad" (as an agent), originally of Jesuits (1590s)

— "act of sending, a dispatching; a release, a setting at liberty; to release, let go; send, throw"

(From the Online Etymological Dictionary)

We are in the process of being assessed and trained to deploy as Foursquare Missions workers.

In truth, all Jesus-followers are missionaries. We live this earth-life on mission to learn to Love Yahweh and others, and to share this Love. But we also use the term “missionary” specifically to talk about the intentional sending of Jesus-followers to an international and/or cross-cultural location to do specific ministry work.

That is our season ahead! We are moving from our community to serve in a region where there is no current Foursquare presence or work.

Our plan is to assess the needs of the region, pray to learn what Yahweh is already at work doing there, and step into the opportunities He creates there. We believe we have been prepared to do specific work that is part of Yahweh’s big and good plan for the people of the region. After years of pastoral training and experience, we are excited to step into the next season with Yahweh. :-)

We are seeking to partner with Foursquare Missions International (FMI) which is a community and structure of training, accountability, and support to US Foursquare ministers deployed around the world. We are currently completing assessments and, if accepted, we will complete a series of trainings that lead to being formally deployed. The assessments and trainings are excellent and we are excited to learn, grow, and be further equipped!

Foursquare is a Christian church denomination that is focused on following Jesus and bringing His Love to the world. We have been part of Foursquare for over 20 years. Josh is a Foursquare Licensed Pastor, Justine is a Foursquare Ordained Pastor, and, for the past 1.5 years, Jus has worked on the Foursquare staff team. We love being part of Foursquare for community, accountability, and access to ongoing training and resources.
