Spheres of Relationship (not influence)

We often hear the phrase spheres of influence in leadership conversations. It sounds strategic. Impressive. Like a meaningful calling.

But I believe there’s something more powerful, more important, and more real.

Spheres of relationship.

Your spheres of relationship are the people you already interact with regularly.

The real people who are part of your everyday life. The ones who know your voice, notice your presence, and feel the impact of your everyday choices.

The chase for influence can pull us out “there” toward platforms and positions.

But your spheres of relationship already exist, and you already exist as a real person in them.

Not as an expert, influencer, or cultivated brand,
but as a real human walking a real life.

What if leadership isn’t about who you “influence” but how you show up in the relationships you already have?

Not someday ahead, somewhere else, or with someone new.
But right now, in the places where you already are with the people you already know.

Yep. Your leadership impact already exists in the places where you are already known.

Leadership isn’t something we have to build, chase or earn. Leadership is a posture and practice lived out within the relationships we already have.

So instead of asking, How can I grow my influence?
Try asking, How can I be more present and intentional in the relationships I already have?

With you in the journey,
Justine

Reflection:

Who are the people already within your spheres of relationship? What kind of presence do you bring to those people?
