Leadership Is About Connection (Not Control)

We’ve often been taught that leadership means having answers, being in charge, taking control. But healthy leadership isn’t about control at all.

The best leaders I’ve known weren’t trying to have power over others, they were focused on raising and empowering people into their unique strengths.

They weren’t grasping for power. They were grounded in the purpose of helping others flourish. They didn’t make people feel small. They reminded people of their worth and encouraged them to fly.

Good leadership creates space for others to show up and be themselves.
Good leadership listens before directing.
Good leadership notices what’s needed and responds with care.
Good leadership draws people in, rather than pushing them along.

Control may achieve compliance but leading with connection and care always achieves exponentially more than one leader could ever achieve on their own.

So if you find yourself caring more about people than about being in charge, that’s not a flaw. That’s leadership.

With you in the journey,

Justine
