Reminder: It Won’t Be Easy
I expected that when I started pursuing my dreams, things would go well.
I thought that once I took the brave steps forward, doors of opportunity would fly open, people would cheer me on, and everything would fall beautifully into place.
But that’s not what happened.
Things didn’t get easier. They got harder.
Why?
Because stepping into something new means facing opposing forces. Move forward and you’ll feel wind against you. Step upwards and gravity will pull. Walk into uncharted territory and you’ll meet uneven terrain. This is normal.
And, somewhere in the wrestle, I began to see that the challenges weren’t blocking my dream, they were forming the strength I’d need ahead.
The path toward your dreams will not be smooth. It will be stormy. It will be full of resistance, barriers, detours, and waves of discouragement that come one after another.
Stepping out in pursuit of your dreams means stepping into a posture of learning, discovering, and pioneering. It means leaving the comfort of what is known and entering the rugged, wild unknown.
Progress, development, and innovation never come from staying comfortable. They come from the willingness to grow, to expand beyond what you know, to be stretched beyond what you can yet do.
Because, you don’t have what it takes yet. That is what the journey does.
Difficulty is not an obstacle to success. It is the environment in which success is made.
Strength is built from resistance.
Innovation is sparked by barriers.
Growth sprouts because of challenge.
“When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.”
Remember: Expect difficulty.
There will be days when you wonder why it is so hard to build what you believe in. Days when exhaustion sets in and you question whether you can keep enduring the waves of challenge.
On those days, remind yourself: Ease is a tempting path but it isn’t for you.
Ease gives a false sense of confirmation but it robs you of formation. It lures you toward the status quo instead of expanding and flourishing. And the truth is, when things come easily, we tend to stop growing. We shift from becoming to maintaining.
Your journey will stretch you beyond your current capacity. It will ask more of you than you thought you had. It will shape you in ways you cannot yet see.
The hardships will transform you.
The very obstacles we wish away are the ones preparing us for what’s ahead.
You are cutting a path where there hasn’t been one before. You are believing in a dream and bringing something into being that does not yet exist. You are building your confidence. You are becoming your true self. You are taking up your ordained space. You are shaping a new version of reality.
“If there is no struggle, there is no progress.”
You will question if you’re doing enough. If you’re the right person for this. If it’s worth the energy it takes to keep showing up.
You will face storms, headwinds, and barriers. They are not proof that you should stop. They are essential elements for your dream to come true.
The journey is not going to be easy, but it is going to be transforming.
Keep going.
With you in the journey,
Justine
